Stuffie Rack
Pikachu wants out!

Background
My kids love stuffed animals. We have created the expectations that they can pick one of these out when we go zoos, aquariums, etc... We love going to see animals of all kinds. So as a result the stuffie situation has gotten out of hand. They were all, all over the house. We were definitely out numbered. I started looking on amazon for solutions and although there are many affordable options. I wanted something that was not freestanding and not really a sling or sack. Not happy with the options available I designed my own, easy to assemble, mostly off-the-self parts. 3D printer required.
Parts
- 1 inch pine dowels
- elastic cord - 25ft
- 50lb wall anchors
- glue
- 3D printed corner nodes
Assembly
The assembly was quite easy. After designing the shape in Shapr3D I printed the corner pieces on my printer. It took about 9hrs to print all the parts, in two batches. Then I cut the dowels to length based on what I had mocked up in the design in shapr3D. I glued the top and bottom triangles together.
Then after the glue dried for a couple hours I assembled the frame and mounted it on the wall.

Things I Learned
- I have been planning to make these for months but had not gotten around to them. I wish I had made them sooner. It was not as difficult as I thought. I kept the design simple and it turned out pretty nice.
- They are a bit bigger than I probably need. For all the stuffies the kids had they only filled about 1/4-1/2 of the total space. So I probably could have made them half as big as I did.
- I liked the clear Gorilla brand glue I used. I thought hot-glue would be the way to go but I did end up needing working time to adjust the dowels in the slots in the corner nodes. And to find the sides of the dowels that were the best looking and face those sides out.
- I would probably randomize the seams on the 3D print. I left the defaults and it put them right were the sort of appear to be cracks, but are not.
